See an Eagle Soar

As many of you probably know, due in part, I suspect, to my frequent posts regarding the event, a special Union Pacific train is on the move. It is the Union Pacific’s Valley Eagle Heritage Tour train with a glorious steam engine, Union Pacific No. 844 leading the way. Union Pacific’s famed and historic steam locomotive, No. 844, will make an eight state, 28-day tour to south Texas in celebration of the Union Pacific Railroad’s heritage.

I found on YouTube a video shot pacing the train with great views of No. 844 as she cruises through Egbert, Wyoming that was filmed and posted by Skip Weythman. Thanks to Skip’s effort and work, you can railfan the “Valley Eagle” run from the comfort of your keyboard.

The video gives you a good look at the “visual show” typical of a steam locomotive at speed. It is definitely worth a viewing. More of Skip’s work can be seen here.
